Meet: Amanda Valentino
Head of Talent Acquisition & Mobility
Genentech
Amanda works with a team that does hiring for positions at
Genentech, including doctors and scientists. Genentech
develops medicine that is safe and effective to help people.
Amanda shared how having good interviewing skills are
important
for getting a job. She looks for people who are
passionate about science and medicine.

At an interview, you may be asked questions about your
experience. Do you have any experience in this area? What
have you done in the past?
Amanda gives information about
the job opening to find out its what they want to do. She looks
at whether or not this a good match for the company.

Meet: Heather Natsch
Entrepreneur and Co-Founder,
 in Real Estate & Insurance

Heather set the stage with a read aloud, Eat My Dust!

Henry Ford's First Race to demonstrate how ideas can be
developed. She explained how an idea moves from the idea
stage to building a prototype for testing.

Girls brainstormed ideas for what would want to make. What
would it look like? How does it work? The next step would be
to make a small size model to test if its works.
If it does, then you'd need to think about fundraising to get
money for your idea. Who will your customers be? How would
you scale? Do you need a factory to build it? Do you have a

sales place where people can buy it? Will you expand and need
to hire more people to work?

Meet: Jenny Dedo
Senior Account Manager, Adobe Inc.

Jenny sells software to customers and companies. She finds
out what their business needs are and works with them to
make sure they get the most out of the software. Programs

work on many devices, including ipads, phones, and computers.

A skit showed a sales meeting between Jenny and a customer.
They talk together to find out what is needed. Over the course
of several meetings where questions are asked and information
is given, the customer reaches a decision about buying the
software.

Jenny shared that one of the favorite things about her job is
meeting people and getting to know the clients and their needs.

She loves working with her team!

Girls worked on making name tags.

MEET: Leigh Lytle
Head of Finance, Federal Reserve Bank of SF
Leigh showed the girls how our paper money has many
protective features that make it hard to copy. Girls did their
own checking looking for looking for identifying marks

by  sight and then with tools (magnifying lens, light detectors).
You can hold a twenty dollar bill up to light and look for a
watermark and security ribbon on both sides.

Girls were shown how the texture is rough and not just smooth.
Other identifying features include: changing ink, watermark
thread, ultraviolet (UV), and 3D ribbon.

Girls checked bills for ultraviolet features using a hand held
portable UV black light money detector. They looked for a
  security thread that should glow.
